Many modern education ‘experts’ demanded that girls be treated more like boys, in the name of ‘equality’. In single-sex schools, this was reflected in changes in the subjects studied. Like it or not, in some MSM, this meant girls being told that if they misbehaved like boys, they could expect to be punished like boys (just like in Scotland). Modern socialists of the time really did think that if a boy could survive a swat on the bottom, so should a girl. Better modern socialists, of course, were anti-CP full stop, but their voice was not to dominate until the 80s.
