When I was in high school here in Australia during the 1960s, aside from the agonizing sting, the worst part was that rubbing and blubbing as you made your way back to your form room and going past classrooms full of girls and boys who then knew you were a “crybaby”.Being a “crybaby” or “sissy” was the worst shame for teenage lads and I was such a boy. Tears would be streaming down my cheeks as I entered my form room and the looks of disgust, particularly from the girls,was awful.
