The Deputy Head at my middle school was strongly disliked because of his use of CP quite freely. He did not have a real office in which to administer punishment, so he used a room that was called the “audio-visual” room. It had a glass window in the door, but the punishments were conducted at the other end of the room, so people really could not see anything going on thankfully. What I did not like was that if you were told to report to him, he would make you wait outside with your nose to the wall, waiting your turn to be called in. It was not uncommon to be there with other lads, all waiting their turn also. The unfortunate thing is that this “office” was passed by everyone on their way to the dining room, so everyone knew what you were doing there.
