Do I feel ashamed? Yes, a little. After all, school corporal punishment was supposed to be for the long term benefit of the pupils, not to satiate the lust of the teachers. But I can honestly say that I never slippered a girl without a legitimate reason, although at that time and in that school, what was deemed “legitimate” would be very different to how that word is interpreted today. Perhaps it was because of some inner guilt about the increasing numbers of girls I was eventually regularly disciplining in this way for my own pleasure, that I devoted a lot of my own spare time to out-of-school projects for the pupils’ benefit.
