At my secondary school in the sixties, most teachers used the slipper to a greater or lesser extent. The PE teacher was the biggest fan of the slipper although strangely for someone who must have slippered several boys each and every day, he didn’t use a favorite slipper just whatever came to hand at the right time. It must have been the excitement of the lucky dip from the lost property box or whichever boy was close by who could oblige with a loan of his plimsole.
