The cricket bat that the p.e master used was not a full-size cricket bat but a smaller version i would say it was approximately two feet long, as far as I can recall.
My bottom was a very deep red in color, and sitting in my next lesson was a bit uncomfortable but that faded within the hour.
I suppose it was very much like the paddle they used in the U.S.A., the p.e master was new to the school so it was the first time any of us boys had been punished with such an implement.
I was punished on three other occasions with that bat three strokes again,i heard that some boys received the full six for serious misdemeanours that must have been agony
