What so many schools have today is a gender neutral approach that, at best, fails to give both boys and girls what they need, and, at worst, fails to give girls what they need, and then manages to be even worse at given boys what they need. The gender neutral “let’s ignore sex differences” approach doesn’t work for girls or boys even in the best of circumstances. And even worse often winds up being actively discriminatory as well.

When the only disciplinary policies available in a school are the ones that work best with girls, you don’t have an equal approach – you have a discriminatory one.
