In the years leading up to abolition, more and more education authorities dropped CP, post abolition the behaviour of boys didn’t deteriorate, or escalate over night, there were reports when the House discussed the abolition for private schools over a decade later, behaviour had improved in some state schools without the threat or use of CP.
No, it didn’t happen overnight – it took a couple of years. But it did happen. There was a massive deterioration in overall behaviour in schools in the UK in the years following abolition, and the deterioration was far more dramatic among boys than girls. The same has been seen in nearly all jurisdictions have occurred in the last thirty years.
There have certainly been some individual schools that have bucked this trend – but overall the deterioration has been quite dramatic.
