This wasn’t necessarily the case in Scotland, which although having a fearsome tradition of belting kids, did so on the hands, usually in public and where girls were certainly not exempt. Unless Scotland is full of middle-aged women who were somehow irreparably psychologically damaged by being punished as girls in the same way as miscreant boys were when they did the same things, any data on that one Dr D?!
A Valid Point, in the case of CP I think the Scots found a happy medium and got it right. More equality and taking away any sexual element.
Like Jenny I don’t see women psychologically damaged any more than men by CP under the right circumstances. Most adults laugh off their experiences. There are a lot more reports of men holding resentment against sadistic beatings but in my eyes there were a lot more boys beaten that didn’t need to be.
