Some studies have shown less SCP, some of these have been commissioned however to observe certain categories of offence only to try to obtain internationally usable data. Obviously most SCP data sets depend of official sources, and there can be significant distortion here. To give but one example , the number of paddling recorded in Texas in the 70’s may in some years be out by a factor of anything between 20 and 50% . Why? Because the official statistics whilst supposed to record all instances , actually recorded administrative paddling and omitted those in the classroom or corridor of 3 swats and below. Moreover some schools took a sample period and used ratio to extrapolate for the year…..not all months are equivalent.
