That’s a point I often make to those who claim “girls don’t do the things boys got caned for.” Do they really believe no girls ever smoked; played truant; fought; damaged property or stole. Never mind all the minor offences boys were caned for.
There could be no comparison for the boys, co-ed schools just followed suit, caning boys in similar numbers to all boys’ schools, because that what they adopted , overall boys were disadvantaged and the equality band widened.
In those schools, boys were disadvantaged because girls would often provoke them into misbehaving: safe in the knowledge that they (the girls) would not be punished.
