What is the longest period of delay between an offense at school and suitable punishment? Clearly for example after a week may be reasonable but what about longer and in the case of a serious offence such as truancy?

I would say in most cases the longest would have been either “See me tonight, after school,” or “see me tomorrow morning.” Irrespective of the gender.
I would agree with the above post but it could be a little longer if the offence was committed on a Friday and the boy had to report on Monday. The wait was often as effective as the actual punishment. If it is too long after the event it tends to loose its meaning.
