I remember this teacher’s name as the physical education teacher, Mr Poochies. As far as I know all the ‘culprits’ owned up and they were ordered to line up in front of the class. Then each one was systematically caned, I do not know how many times. It did not seem to matter. What I did know was that I was absolutely petrified and I can recall my heart pounding inside me and I was shaking with absolute terror. This was my introduction to the secondary school. The tone had been laid down and I felt I was going to be fighting for my very survival.
