I am now going to describe a number of incidents as I remember them and try to describe the feelings, I felt as a child in relation to each incident.
Miss Collin used emotional as well as physical abuse as punishment. Punishment would be was meted out if a child did not know how to do a sum or spell a word. I cannot remember why I was singled out. But Miss Collin decided I deserved humiliation. She did this by ordering me to stand in the corner, facing the wall. I cannot remember how long I had to stay there. The strange thing about my reaction to this treatment is that my feelings closed off. It was later, after it was all over that I suffered the effects.
