Yes, I thought the cane would hurt, and it did hurt an awful lot! In the circumstances, I was very upset and they told me it was going to be very painful, it was unlikely I would find it anything other than extremely painful.
Two years down the line I was caned again in very different circumstances, I was far from very upset I could not have cared less, it did not really register much at all, nothing did in this period of my life. Due to the circumstances, It was unlikely I was going to find the cane particularly painful.
