I was in primary school in the 1970s when most teachers seemed to reward misbehavior with a hand spanking, some a lot more than others,it varied a fair bit, some teachers gave you a smack or two while standing, others would told you to bend over and give you half a dozen hard smacks and i had one teacher who would call you out the front of the class and put over her knee for a spanking. generally, if you continued to play up then sent to the principal for the cane.
