My beef was the unfairness of group punishments and he must have known most were innocent. I can’t complain about individual hidings I knew the score and rules and was nearly always done for smoking which was an automatic six of the best.The unfairness also stretched to thrashings as you could be caught up in a House Beating yet you knew you were due a visit to his study for breaking bounds, smoking etc. This was then postponed a few days or you were recovering from the same. As a deterrent, he operated an incremental system whereby in a month the more visits to his study there were the more clothes had to come off Equally this as senior became humiliating if you were waiting in line with juniors especially if you had a few notches on the scale.
