A friend of mine aged 15 in the late 60s collected I think a “nine” from two different masters.
This was a noted caning school at which some (maybe all) masters were allowed to use a light cane. My friend had two summons on the same day after school. Having taken the first four from one master he proceeded to his second appointment where he received an extra stroke for being late…he did not admit the reason for his tardiness.
I may have my Maths wrong after over 40 years but the gist of the story is true.
