CP could be administered as a secondary rather than direct result for some misdemeanour. It’s been mentioned here several times if set lines, given detention, some pupils simply wouldn’t comply.
I wonder who they might be.
My co ed school , was typical of many schools, a pupil failing to do a punishment without good reason would usually receive some form of CP, this applied to both girls and boys, in effect this allowed pupils to manipulate to a degree the chose of punishment to suite if so desired, one punishment cancelled and replaced.
That’s how it was at my school. If I got lines or detention, I simply didn’t do them and had the slipper the next day instead. The slipperings would be approximately what I would have expected if I hadn’t been given the lines, rather than a harsher punishment for refusing to do lines or detention.
