The macho element is apart. When I was at school boys were caned for lack of effort, (me included). Girls on the other hand weren’t. This can be equated to; Boys must succeed academically as they will one day hold positions of great power. Girls on the other hand may aspire to be the boy’s secretary. So consequently requires less encouragement to excellence. Again utter rubbish!
So no wonder antediluvian Luddites maintain the, boys should be caned and girls shouldn’t positions, they actually have more to lose than girls. They fail to recognize that if you believe that the cane is an effective form of punishment then it should be applied regardless of gender.
