Could it possibly work the other way? If a boy and a girl were caught committing some offence together and were caned separately, isn’t it likely that they’d each want to know the details of each others’ punishments – with their imaginations filling in the blanks? There was usually some interest in what went on whenever anyone got the cane although, as more of us gained first hand experience, that interest tended to wane.
Jenny, I think you’ll have to go back a long way to find a situation where:
Girls were not considered worth educating. All we were fit for was keeping the home tidy and cooking our husbands’ dinners.
I’ve met that attitude fairly recently – in the last decade or so. Admittedly, those expressing that view would be considered misogynists.
