In your youth, were most mothers at home or at work?

My Mum was bringing me up until age 9,at which stage she got a part-time office job. Mums nearly always ended work when they became Mums then.

And, of course, most of them were married to Dad, too!!

I’ve always been convinced that if there IS a lack of discipline in today’s kids(as opposed to a looser carefree attitude), then the disintegration of the nuclear family, and Mum’s emergence from the washing tub to the office & boardroom has a lot to do with it.

I’ve also worked under a number of female bosses(no, not in THAT sense!!) in the Civil Service. Most of them have treated me(Quite correctly!) like a big kid at times, but you have to wonder if that attitude would have been better used on their own children.
