It is likely that young Horace will then enter the advanced world of The University and an even higher plateau.
Perhaps he will sink into self-searching questions of self-identity, the meaning of life etc as he studies the writings and history of all humanity.
Perhaps his search will lead him to experiment with mind-opening drugs. He may grow his hair long and adopt strange thinking and weird fantasies as he explores “beatnik” concepts and literature as part of his “course” in security with the approval of the liberal university authorities.
Something a leave school at 16 factory apprentice cannot possibly hope to do.
If chosen he may eventually experience an epiphany a revelation seeing the light.
You see the rewards of education and its journey are many and varied and not always in the syllabus!
