Don’t know about any other FR references but my male teacher at primary school was prone to slap and ruler girls legs during the lesson. There is a reference in FR for this School by a girl who got her legs rulered as late as the 80s, I can’t identify as it was my school.
Saw it lots of times, no wonder knee socks and a well turned calf, thigh turn me on, phew, cold shower time.

By the way quite a ceremony involved, socks rolled down, sometimes child up on chair for easy access, hands on head, threats of more etc. No wonder the class was quiet for the rest of the lesson
