Corporal punishment in schools in the UK is against the law now, but when I was growing up (during the 80’s) it hadn’t quite gone out of style. I knew of very few cases where someone got the slipper or the cane but it always happened in private – and from what I heard, the Headmaster caned boys while the senior female teacher would give girls the slipper – though all this is only hearsay – it happened so rarely.
