This happened when I was 11. I was dared by a girl in my class at school to steal some sweets from the local sweet shop closest to our school. It was a stupid thing to do, and it was only one penny chew from the penny sweets section. I was desperate for this girl who dared me to accept me into her little clique of friends so I went through with it, got away with it, felt awful about it, and then made the stupid mistake of telling my younger sister about it on the way home – I told her because I was trying to relieve my feelings about it – but my sister, who was a royal pain at that age, said she was going to tell our mother.
