Mr Gett said that as a result of his conviction Jezard would automatically go on a child-sex offender register.
Judge Skoien said Jezard would effectively be branded for life after browsing a website out of stupid curiosity and not for sexual gratification.
In sentencing him to four months’ jail wholly suspended, and imposing a $2500 good behaviour bond, Judge Skoien said Jezard had already been severely punished by the shame of his arrest and prosecution.
“You deservedly suffer extreme shame, and you’ve effectively been branded for life,” he told him.
Defence barrister Sean Barry said Jezard had not worked as a teacher for four years, and had spent most of his working life as a furniture manufacturer at Home Hill, in far north Queensland.
Mr Barry said Jezard had not stored or shared the material, and his arrest should be a lesson to anyone in the community who trawls the internet for pornography out of curiosity.
