I too went to a prep school that had a strict regime, and there were times when, if you were unlucky, you could be punished twice for one misdemeanor. E.G. a teacher would sometimes send you out of the class, either to stand on the ‘naughty mat’ in the corridor or underneath the clock in the assembly hall. Both places were very public and designed to shame you in front of passersby. That was the punishment.
