My most painful punishment was the result of an out-of-school incident. One Saturday with a group of friends we congregated outside a friend’s house larking around. Throwing a crab apple I misjudged managing to break a small window above a front door, as everyone legged it I froze, in a moment of madness knowing it was the house of another friend I knocked and owned up to her dad. Surprisingly not angry he told me to go and ask my parents how this could be resolved.
