Asked why it hadn’t been mentioned previously, my unintentional flippant rely on “you didn’t ask” hardly allowed the words to leave my lips, Miss S flew at me raised my skirt, and slapped my thigh and leg repeatedly so hard reducing me to tears, it left me with a mass of welted hand marks, which later bruised. I have no idea if the Head knew it was me who broke the window or whether my impertinent answer fired her up , but she left me under no illusion our paths should not cross again. So for me, a slapped leg was the most painful but compared to the cane I received at senior school the cane wins.
