in regard to the prevalence of acquiescence to authority in the schools of yesteryear, yes! certainly I agree that in the era of the late 1960s, when I was at school,authority and obedience to it were very well developed.

At primary school, when the bell rang, we had to stand perfectly still wherever we were, and when a second bell rang,had to assemble on the playground in lines, to be marched- MARCHED- like little soldiers to our classrooms by our teachers.

We could not move from our places without permission, we were not allowed to talk in class, if an adult entered the room we had to stand as a token of respect, we had to put up our hand to ask a question etc
