That was very much my attitude when I frequently took a shortcut through an out-of-bounds area at school. The only difference was that I usually just got told off (although I expected to get the slipper sooner or later) so I wasn’t really risking anything. I only stopped when, having caught me 3 or 4 days running, after catching me countless times before, the teacher took me to the Associate Headmaster who gave me the cane.
