Answering the thread’s question there very likely were children who did purposely go out of their way to warrant some form of punishment. The question doesn’t target corporal punishment, but watching a severe caning wouldn’t have caused me to rush to the front of a queue if one formed for volunteers. You didn’t live through your school life in fear of corporal punishment either, well I didn’t.
