Eventually I started to wonder what the cane was really like and wanted to experience it, but I didn’t know how to get myself caned. It was only used for pretty serious things like bullying and stealing and I didn’t want to get into trouble for something like that even if I wanted to get caned. Eventually, the Principal got worked up about kids not wearing bike helmets on their way to and from school and announced anyone who broke that rule could be caned, so I broke it. I almost got off with another punishment, but in the end I got what I mostly wanted. I did have second thoughts when it was too late.
