Girls may have also resisted crying before, during and immediately after a slippering, but then rushed to the toilets to do their crying there. If a girl was slippered in private after a lesson and did not cry, when she finally left, if it had been possible to watch where she headed for, and how fast she did so, that would probably have indicated whether she had been suppressing the tears or not. In my opinion, if a girl was slippered in front of the class, unless it had been just a quick and not too hard punishment, the teacher should have told her that she could have ten minutes to go outside or to the toilets. After all, the punishment was supposed to be over after the slippering.
