Or imagine a boy walking past the study of his headmaster who regularly canes boys on their bottoms. Suddenly he sees a girl emerge from the head’s study in tears and rubbing or clutching her bottom. The fact that he hadn’t seen exactly what had happened in there moments earlier wouldn’t stop him from feeling excited. “I wonder if she had to bend over the way we have to,” he would think. “Did he cane her as hard as he caned me last week? How many strokes did she get? Did he pull her skirt up? How loud did she scream? I wish I had been here a bit earlier; I could have listened through the door.
