We don’t know how many whacks the girl received, so let’s assume that there had been only one more. Let’s also assume that, seconds later as she and the teacher returned to the room, she had been determined not to show how much pain her slippering had caused her, and so didn’t hold or rub her bottom. She may have been able to bravely resist that but she would not have been able to hide her distress as she would return to the lesson red faced and dishevelled. She may not have been openly sobbing but her eyes would probably be watery. Those few seconds between the final whack and having to return to the class would not have been enough for her to compose herself after the ordeal she had just been through.
