We have students at this school – former victims of bullying – who are here specifically because this is their place of safety. Some of them do get caned during their time here. I doubt any of them would choose to go back.
Here’s another ‘dirty little secret’ for people to consider. Those opposed to corporal punishment quite often have decided they only care about some children. They are absolutely prepared to sacrifice any child who benefits from corporal punishment for what they see as the benefits for other children.
When corporal punishment isn’t available, it can’t be used even if it’s the right thing for a child. It guarantees that some children will never get what they need.
