The boys were 11. She just sat there, drinking her tea, and told me that she had seen many a boy having his bottom caned with nothing on. She just sat and watched. She showed no emotion at all as the cane whipped across the boy’s bottoms. She just got up and left when it was over. However another mother in the 1960s,s complained and left before the boys were caned as she did not wish to see them getting it on their trousers. In actual fact it was given on their pants.
