I’m reminded of an incident from 1976, reported in Corpun, where a fifteen-year-old girl by the name of Karen McAdoo was caned on the bottom at Camden Square Comprehensive School in Seaham, Co. Durham, and was forcibly restrained in order to be punished after refusing to hold out her hand.
There was a dispute about the number of strokes given to Karen, and I note also that the number of strokes given to Clara was not recorded in the punishment book. Perhaps Clara, too, was forcibly restrained, and the headmistress could not remember afterwards how many strokes had been given.
