In fairness, I remember some old B/W gangster movie having a line about ‘taking a belt to the bare-backsides of 18-year-old boys AND girls’. Perhaps there was nothing strange in having a 50’s/60’s vicar advocate the bare bottom spanking/caning of teens of either sex.
