I tried to persuade the shop owner not to report him, but he jumped to the conclusion that I’d put him up to it, and so I had another very uncomfortable interview over that allegation. And our school contacted their school again and they got another detention. After that one, I approached the bigger kids and told them to leave him alone – I wasn’t a particularly brave kid but this was getting ridiculous, and I got beaten up again. This time I told the school and they contacted their school again and they got another detention. I gave up at that point. The younger kid and I used to get off our bus and wait outside the station where we could see the train coming and then run down onto the platform at the last minute. I don’t know what he did after I went onto the senior school.
