They were hardly going to complain to parents about the slippering they got, as they took it to prevent their parents knowing. I think in some cases the PE staff really whacked them extra hard and did not worry about a bruise on the bottom as these boys would say nothing. Also, they were unlikely to say anything if they were required to take it on just pe short, pants or even on the bare bottom. Likewise was the last group. Boys who were scared to tell their parents they had been naughty, and a good many of these existed. They werer again very vunerable. I do know, and stopped the slippering of all boys on the bare by pe staff, that while I was head in 1972 ish a group of boys were playing about in the gym and given detention.
