It is difficult to generalise about whether teachers abused their position regarding corporal punishment back then. There was no secret abuse in private as everything was very out in the open as if the teachers considered they had nothing to hide. Indeed this was also true of the two well known cases regarding the corporal punishment of girls which actually came to Court during the 60s . I am referring to Colin West and the Heston Grammar School cases .
