Had any girl, or parents, been told that girls would have their. knickers pulled up tight so the cane was applied to the bare bottom? I do not know for certain, but I very much doubt they were.
There has been one post in this forum from a girl that said her knickers were pulled up tight like that to be caned on the bare bottom by the headmistress, and I think we are all aware a similar thing happened to two girls at Helston grammar school who were paddled in a similar fashion but with a clothes brush. It may well have happened to others, but certainly not on an industrial scale like it was at Bacons.
