Mr Ing maintained to one and all, from governors to his Deputy Headmistress and Senior Master through to the investigators that all parents of girls were told caning would be given by him on the bottom and that a severe caning would be the likely result of a visit to his office. Bacons themselves supplied the names of several girls, including a couple of ex-pupils, who had been caned. All were contacted and every parent concerned denied that Mr Ing had done any such thing.
