The Chief Inspector was already of the mind that the interference with a girl’s underwear by a member of staff would be viewed as possible sexual assault, regardless of whether parents knew of it or that the governors had sanctioned it. However, on my husband’s suggestion, he decided to start interviewing a selection of girls’ parents from amongst the form captains and prefects. My husband thought the complaints were ill-founded, that Mr Ing was being honest throughout and the second section of parents would confirm this, as they had no axe to grind.
