A bottle of trick red ink was found in the cabinet. This faded completely away within a short while of transcription onto paper. It later transpired that such a product was manufactured for joke shops, amateur magicians and the like.
There were also a large sheath of newspaper cuttings, all of which related to correspondence columns debating corporal punishment going back over a decade. Every such debate contained claims of bare-bottomed beatings for girls, sometimes by a fellow pupil, sometimes by the girl themselves.
