My husband understood the school’s solicitors had told the governors that every case of a severe caning was tantamount to sexual assault and that if they made a scapegoat of Mr Ing or his Deputy and Senior Master, they would be admitting such a thing had happened and would render themselves liable for allowing it to occur.
