The simple reintroduction of the cane would not do the job and there is the risk that it could be used so poorly by the current crop of teachers as to be of little value. Unfortunately, Humpty cannot easily be put back together again.
Sadly the decline of proper discipline in schools, and the situation where the UK parliament could abolish CP, albeit on a very close vote, were largely brought about by agitation on the part of a minority of those selfsame teachers who put political correctness and adherence to already discredited social theories above any trust and esteem the public had for them.
